At our community forum on school safety, we heard many of your concerns and thoughts regarding the Coatesville Area School District. With roughly two hours of conversation, this forum brought together parents, teachers, students, school administrators, civic leaders and community members to discuss the most important issue: the safety of our kids in school. This was a good first step and we must continue moving forward in a positive direction!
Over the last few months, I have met with the Superintendent and school administrators on several occasions. I’ve brought in the District Attorney and local law enforcement; and, together, we have recommended new security measures for the high school campus. Additionally, I have secured an over half million dollar increase in state funding for the Coatesville Area School District. I am engaged in our schools and I will continue to be engaged on this issue until we see positive results.
With 40 years as a teacher, coach and principal at Coatesville Area Senior High School, I know that students cannot learn and excel in their studies if they do not feel safe in their own school. Together, we can ensure our children have a secure learning environment. I was encouraged by our discussion and I am calling on the Coatesville community to unite for our students and the future of our schools.
As a follow up to our community forum, I have requested a meeting with the Coatesville Area School Board and school administrators to discuss the concerns that you have shared with me. I will also take your concerns with me back to the House Education Committee in Harrisburg. Despite the challenges we face, we can create positive solutions by working together!?#?coatesvillepride?
