State Representative Harry Lewis – Champion of Education
Endorsed by PSEA – PA’s Largest Teachers Association
COATESVILLE, PA – State Representative Harry Lewis received the endorsement of the Pennsylvania State Education Association (PSEA). The PSEA’s Political Action Committee for Education (PACE) Board of Directors voted to endorse Representative Lewis candidacy for the 2016 General Election. PSEA is the largest teachers’ association in Pennsylvania representing over 180,000 members and over 1.5 million school children who are served by them.
“I’m honored to once again receive the support of PSEA,” said Representative Lewis. “And, I’m happy they recognize the good work that I’ve done in support our schools, students, and teachers. Over my first two years as State Representative, I successfully fought to ensure that both the Coatesville Area School District and Downingtown Area School District received increased funding for their schools. This year’s bipartisan budget supported by colleagues from both sides of the aisle and Governor Wolf included historic levels of state education funding, the most in Pennsylvania history, all while holding the line on income and sales taxes. I intend to continue this success. Our children are our treasure and every student should have the opportunity to excel and thrive. That’s my commitment to them.”
A retired educator, high school principal, and champion track coach, Harry Lewis has been fighting for our community and our children his entire career. Upon retirement from education, Mr. Lewis founded multiple non-profit organizations aimed at supporting our youth through job placement, college scholarships, and mentoring. Elected State Representative in 2014, Representative Lewis left retirement to ensure our community has a strong voice in Harrisburg. In just two years, Harry fought to bring more funding to our schools and revitalize our area, fighting for more, good-paying jobs. He has also been successful in holding the line on taxes and voted for property tax reform which passed the House. These reforms will mean major reductions in school property taxes and could lead to phasing them out completely. He’s been an advocate for public safety, passing tougher penalties for violent criminals and implementing measures to protect our youth. On Tuesday, November 8th, help Mr. Lewis continue the success by voting to re-elect him as State Representative.
